Blog Post Week 6
This week in lab, I learned all about organisms and their environment and what things make this up. We also spoke a good amount on sea turtles, and I quickly learned about their lifespan. I learned that about 1 in 1,000 turtles survive to adulthood. That really surprised be because the chances are not super high! Going into and talking about sea turtles and their lifestyle was also very eye opening and see just how many of their predator's affect their daily life and what they do. I believe that human actions can greatly affect sea turtles. I formulated the idea after class that we cannot dictate the natural factors and what happens in that regard, but I believe that we as human's can do our part in putting turtle's in more safe spots. We also touched on three dimensional learning what again, and the worksheet we did consisted of drawing, and writing about the 3 dimensions. This came to my attention just how greatly the three dimensions can bring out the better in student learning in the end.
From lab, I am able to relate the reminder of just how we need to look out for the animals in the environment. Human's can affect what happens to our organisms. It makes me realize it to that level just how true that is when hearing stats like we did today that clarified that. This goes outside of just sea turtles, it goes to all organisms, and makes me take away the ideology to be extra mindful in society and world around us, because we can have a affect on future growth in years ahead.
Lastly, I am able to take a lot of knowledge from today and into my future teachings. We did a lot of different worksheet's today and activities. One was a turtle turtle game with cootie catcher. With this we learned about cause and affects of human and natural factor's and became aware of what can occur. By learning about this it proved to me how crucial and well using activities then following it up with post activity worksheet's has a lot of benefit. It proved to myself just how well it can deepen overall knowledge as a student and be a lot easier to be more aware of all knowledge as well by having to apply that to worksheet. It was interesting first hand experiencing that and telling how well it worked in making sure information was remembered and deepened!
Below is the cootie catcher we used for the turtle turtle game. This game taught me a lot in terms of the positive and negative factors human's vs natural causes can have on sea turtles.
Below is our quick plant that we planted in week 3. It has come a long ways since then and has grown quickly. Cool to see then vs now.
I loved how you talked about the cootie catcher game! I definitely want to put this idea in my future classroom as well. I think it can really help the students retain the knowledge and things they're learning. Thanks for sharing!
